Air Duct and Dryer Vent Care in Gloucester Township, NJ
Gloucester Township belongs to Camden County, not the county that shares its name, and its 66,034 residents at the 2020 census made it the 22nd most populous municipality in New Jersey. More of its homes went up in the 1970s than in any other decade, and AMG Duct Cleaning plans visits around the systems those years left behind.

The township was organized in 1695 inside the old Gloucester County and incorporated in 1798 as one of New Jersey's first 104 townships. When Camden County was carved out in 1844, the township went with it, which is why its name and its county no longer match. Its communities include Blackwood, home of the Camden County College campus, along with Glendora, Grenloch, Chews Landing, Erial, Lakeland and Blenheim.
Big Timber Creek crosses the township from east to west on its way to the Delaware, the Atlantic City Expressway cuts across the southwest, and Route 42 and Route 168 run through the west. The Census Bureau's estimates place the typical house in the late 1970s, and about one home in six is a townhouse or other attached unit. Houses and townhouses of these years mostly call for air duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning, and air duct repair follows wherever an attic run or a crawl space line has come loose.
Houses from the 1970s, now about fifty
Houses from the township's busiest decade are now about fifty years old. Most have had the furnace and the air conditioner replaced at least once, but the trunk, its branch runs and the return grille usually date from the build, and so do the dryer run and the flue.
Across fifty years, joints loosen, flexible runs added in later remodels flatten, and a return grille in a finished lower level pulls in whatever dust that room makes. Air duct repair reseals and reconnects, and air duct installation replaces a run beyond saving or adds one where a finished space was never served.
Townhouse rows and party walls
In a townhouse row, each unit usually has its own furnace or air handler in a closet or a small utility room, its own dryer duct and its own terminations, all pressed against the party wall.
The dryer vent is where townhouses struggle: a laundry closet on the second floor, a duct climbing past the attic insulation to a roof cap, and lint that settles in the vertical stretch. Dryer vent cleaning from both ends clears it, and dryer vent installation gives a long or crooked run a shorter, straighter path.
Big Timber Creek and the low ground
Big Timber Creek powered mills here into the 1950s, and the Gabreil Daveis Tavern House in Glendora, built in 1756, served boatmen who carried goods down the creek to Philadelphia. The creek and its branches still drain the township, and houses on the low ground near them can have damp basements and crawl spaces.
Dampness collects on the coil and in the pan, and in any duct laid through a crawl space. Mold treatment and removal handles the ductwork and the equipment on it after the moisture source is fixed, and a UV lamp over the coil, added through HVAC UV light installation, works on it between cleanings.
Heat pumps, gas furnaces and the fireplace flue
Natural gas heats about three quarters of the township's homes and electricity most of the rest, which in the townhouses often means a heat pump whose air handler hangs in the attic or stands in a hall closet. That coil runs wet all cooling season, and the filter is often a single slot behind the return grille.
Where a house has a fireplace, chimney cleaning covers the flue and the cap, and chimney repair handles a rusted chase cover, a cracked crown or loose flashing. A flue left unused for years still takes weather and nesting birds.
Getting to Gloucester Township
Route 168, the Black Horse Pike, links the township with Haddon Heights to the north, and County Route 544 runs along its northern edge toward Voorhees. We group visits by section where we can, Blackwood and Glendora one morning, Erial and Lakeland another.
Every visit is made by AMG, veteran owned as a business and licensed and insured as a contractor, and the office picks up 8 AM to 8 PM, Monday to Saturday. The free estimate is written after the walk-through.

Questions and answers
Our 1970s house in Blackwood still has its original ductwork. Where do problems usually start?
At the joints and the return. After fifty years the tape lets go, boots pull away from the floor and a return in a finished basement draws in that room's dust. We seal and reconnect before we clean, so the cleaning lasts.
Our townhouse dryer vents through the roof and loads take forever to dry. What is wrong?
Usually lint packed in the vertical run or at the roof cap, where a screen or a stuck flap holds it. We clean the run from inside and check the cap, and if the run is too long we say so and offer a shorter route.
Our heat pump's air handler is in the attic. What should be checked?
The drain pan, the condensate line, the coil face and the flexible runs around the unit. Attic units run wet all summer, and a blocked drain or a sagging run shows up as a ceiling stain or a weak register downstairs.
We live near Big Timber Creek and the basement gets damp. Should the ducts be treated?
Only where growth is on the system. We inspect the coil, the pan and the basement runs; if there is growth, treatment follows once the dampness is controlled, and if there is none, the answer is moisture control.
